Ing. Barzanò & Zanardo was
established in 1878, the five offices of Rome, Milan, Turin, Vicenza
and Biella are conveniently located to satisfy the needs of both
our Italian and foreign Clients.
The Rome office, which obviously
deals with all aspects of Intellectual Property matters, enjoys
a position close to the Central Italian Administration and Government
Offices, particulary the Italian Patent and Trademark Office.
Among its clients, besides Italian companies, there are primary
foreign multinational Corporations.
Our Milan office, besides the
assistance given to industrial and commercial enterprises of its
region, offers the opportunity to foreign corporations of election
of domicile before the jurisdiction of the Court of Milan, which
alone, according to recent statistics, deals with 65% of Intellectual
Property judicial disputes.
Another important reality of our operation is the Turin
office, serving since more than 30 years Italian clients
of a very active area especially in the automotive industry, assisting
European and Extra-European clients, as well.
To the above mentioned offices we add
Vicenza and Biella, which are using with synergy the back-office
resources respectively of the Rome and Turin offices. However,
as in our tradition they both offer full assistance on all aspects
of Intellectual Property matters. These offices serve the needs
of very active industrial areas of the northern part of Italy.
Vicenza features a fully staffed office, whereas Biella is managed
with the cooperation of the attorneys of the Turin Office.
However, within the frame of each office, we are in the position
to offer full assistance on the widest variety of Intellectual
Property matters.
Areas of Expertise
The expertise of our Group couples the skills of jurists with
those of patent attorneys with a technical background.
All our attorneys are prepared to deal with any complex problem
relating to their specific Intellectual Property expertise through
both in-house training and specialized publicly available courses,
designed and aimed at achieving their full preparation and official
graduation in Italian and European level.
Our patent attorneys are trained to offer advice in all traditional
technical fields as well as in those of the most recently developed
technologies, from mechanics to electronics, from chemistry to
biotechnology, from the topography of semiconductor to plant variety,
for filing and enforcing patents in Italy and everywhere abroad.
We also deal with with creations deserving protection, according
to national and foreign laws as Utility models.
A separate treatment is given to those creations which may be
protected under the provisions relating to the field of design.
These laws have recently been reviewed and updated at European
level, consequently to follow the complexity of the new regulations
and provisions we tend at advicing our clients combining the skills
of both our jurists and our patent attorneys.
Among the tasks carried out by our patent attorneys, besides
the assistance to the clients in the enforcement of their patents,
there are the technical expertises as experts indipendently appointed
by Italian Courts in patent judicial disputes (full scale law-suits
and injunction proceedings). Our patent attorneys further interact
with the attorneys of the legal department, as far as the licenses
and technology transfers are concerned.
The legal department is involved by legacy in the protection
of marks, company names and logos, domain names, in addition to
Copyright and software. Therefore rather important is the activity
of availability searches with its related advices and the subsequent
phase of registration for trademarks and domain names carried
out both domestically and in any given foreign Country.
The attorneys of our legal department do give assistance and
advices to both Italian and foreign clients in any type of dispute
(judicial and non-judicial) relating to marks, copyright, control
and enforcement of illegal import of counterfeited products through
specific seizures within the domestic Customs, furthermore the
attorneys of the legal department are in close cooperation with
our patent attorneys (with a more technical background) within
the frame of patent law-suits and more in general they deal with
all aspects of the Competition rights.
Strictly related to the assistance of clients in their judicial
and non-judicial disputes there is the activity of studying and
drafting agreements of complex Intellectual Property portfolios,
and more in detail agreements for acquisition of companies or
branches thereof, know-how and technology transfer, patent and/or
trademark licensing along with any procedural step necessary,
both in Italy and abroad, for their proper recordal.
We also carry out the activity of due diligence as a supplement
to the acquisition and/or incorporation of companies.
