The law project for the ratification
of the London Agreement has been approuved on 24 august, last,
by the French Ministry Counsel.
According to the Agreement, in the adhering Countries (12
countries among which France, Germani, United Kingdom) the European
Patents shall not be translated, filing them in the language of
proceedings.
An intense debate is expected in the French Parliament, supported
by the language protectionists. In fact, with an agreement, the
european patens in French being not translated, for example in
United Kingdom, there would be a relative diffusion of the language
abroad.
Till now the opposition of France had been stopped the entry
into force of the Agreement (already signed by the other 12 Countries).
For Italy, which does not adhere to the Agreement, nothing will
change. The subject is not even a matter of discussion in Italy.

website
(in French).
