Community trademark: the fees reduction in force from 1st May 2009
As anticipated in September 2008, the European Commission has finally confirmed timetable and amounts of the new regime: from 1st May 2009, the applicant will pay only one fee - at the time of the filing of the CTM application - of Euro 950 (for e-filing) or Euro 1050 (for applications sent by fax or post) (Euro 870 if the application is filed through the Madrid system).
The registration fee, previously paid at the time of the registration, has been abolished.
The new regime will be applicable to the new applications filed after May 1, 2009 and also to the pending applications for which no request of paying registration fees has been notified at the time of entry into force of the new regime.
