My academic background and my professional experience are focused on food, and include food chemistry, microbiology, food processing, and nutrition. This varied fundamental knowledge has enabled me, over the years, to broaden my professional activity to inventions belonging to other technical sectors, such as the pharmaceutical, biological, agronomic, petrochemical and cosmetic sectors.
I assist clients in the drafting and filing of patent applications, and subsequently in the examination proceedings before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM), as well as before the European Patent Office (EPO). I have experience in opposition proceedings and appeals before the EPO, which include participation in the related hearings. Moreover, I have gained experience in patent legal disputes in Italy as a technical consultant. My activities also include drafting opinions on patentability and freedom to operate opinions; warning letters; and prior art searches. Finally, I also have experience in the field of design protection.
Thanks to a consolidated knowledge of Italian and European patent law, I can advise my clients, which include start-ups, SMEs, academic institutions and multinational companies, on the patent protection strategies that best suit their needs.
I am qualified to represent clients before the European Patent Office (EPO), the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), and I am qualified as a European Patent Litigator. I am a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the EPO (epi), and a member of the Italian Board of Industrial Property Consultants and of FICPI.
